Momentum Labs, a Concept Companies Development, Has Surpassed Pre-Leasing Goals
ALACHUA, Florida., (August 17, 2023) –
Momentum Labs, a multi-tenant flexible laboratory facility, and the first of its kind in the region, has exceeded its leasing goals in signing a soon-be-announced north-east based company in the life science sector for over half of the 55,000 square foot building in Progress District, Alachua. The biotech hub, now 65 percent leased, is a venture spearheaded by national real estate development company Concept Companies-Gainesville, Florida. With a focus on providing biotech companies with the laboratory and research space, business resources, and access to capital needed to advance their life-changing technologies, Momentum Labs is designed to support all aspects of a growing biotech venture.
The CEO of Concept Companies, Brian Crawford, understands the invaluable impact this (soon-to-be-named) company will have on the region. “Welcoming this top-tier life sciences company to the Progress District is a critical win for the life sciences industry in Alachua, and the economic development of the region. They provide invaluable research and services to some of the top life science companies around the globe. The addition of this company in the region will also play a critical role in job growth with the potential for hundreds of high-quality jobs being added in the first five years. This is exactly what Momentum Labs was designed to do, and we are extremely thankful for Alachua’s support in our efforts to bring this and other top-tier life sciences companies to The Good Life Community.”
Momentum Labs surrounds science entrepreneurs with the resources needed to advance their life-changing research and technology forward. Recognizing the value in the ground-breaking therapies, discoveries, and innovations these companies add to a community and the world, Concept Companies’ goal with Momentum Labs is to provide the best support and resources to support these companies in scaling their business and technology—allowing them to focus solely on what they do best in biotech.
“Securing this company as an anchor tenant in the Momentum Labs facility adds to the credibility of the Progress District being a destination for growing life sciences companies seeking access to quality resources, a talented workforce, and a dynamic network of peers. Now 65 percent pre-leased, Momentum Labs serves the Greater Gainesville life sciences community with premier lab space and plays a critical role in the growth of the ecosystem,” stated Kyla Frye, National Director of Momentum Labs.
Located in the 800-acre Progress District, one of Florida’s fastest-growing life science industry clusters, Momentum Labs expects to bring hundreds of high-quality jobs to the area – along with opportunities for retaining our high-level scientific talent emerging from tier-one research university, The University of Florida.
Momentum Labs in Progress District will serve as an anchor tenant in the well-established scientific community in Alachua, also under expansion and development by Concept Companies. With two-thirds of the already 30-plus businesses located in Progress District being bioscience and technology companies, such as scientific giants like UF Innovate | Sid Martin Biotech, Lacerta Therapeutics, and RTI Surgical, the location was a natural fit that embodies the evolution of the office park into a scientific ecosystem with live, work, play opportunities.
